| Qualifications/Job Description Reviews and analyzes health records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures. Applies appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information (PHI) for data entry and retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Insures the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding. Supervises Quality Assurance Assistants. Requires a clinical background, e.g., LPN,RN, RPT, OT, or SLP, plus the successful completion of a coding program offered by AHIMA, AHCC, or equivalent as a Clinical Coding Specialist (CCS) Certification and two to three years experience with OASIS assessments in the homecare setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess gross motor skills to lift and carry files, equipment, climb stairs, etc. Fine motor skills and close hand/eye coordination needed to operate computer equipment and to perform record keeping and other documentation. |
